Born and raised in Hong Kong over 40 years ago, Cyril spent most of his adventure time on land, with an endless list of hobbies such as rock climbing, mountaineering, biking and alpine exploration to name a few. This was until a he visited Hawaii in the late 90’s when he did his first trial in the world of scuba diving. Everything changed when he exposed himself to a different world. It is not a matter of altitude but a reverse whilst down below, and just a few meters underneath, the creatures are so abundant. He then decided to devote himself to the wet side.

Cyril start learning scuba diving by 1999, and squeezed all his leisure into exploring the aquatic world. While sharing his underwater memories with friends, he realised that he should share his underwater life with others. And in 2005, Cyril joined and started his professional training with Mandarin Divers and became PADI Master Instructor, EFR Instructor, DSAT Instructor, IANTD CCR Diver and also Instructor Training acting as Staff on numerous PADI Instructor Courses. From 2006 he became a Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver and has been diving in total silence for over 300 logged hours.

He is now a full-time active instructor, he’s also aims to attend the course of further CCR Trimix and Technical Cave & Wreck diving, so as to enhance and share his skill and knowledge.

In 2011, Cyril formed an integral part of the survey dive team from Mandarin Divers assisting Andrew Couch and Keith Wilson in the dive operations and logistics. Gaining a unique insight into the critical techniques for both survey diving in extreme conditions and also underwater videography and photography required to accurately record data which can then form part of the survey write-up. This experience places Cyril, along with Andrew Couch, in a highly unique position within the Hong Kong diving community as one of very few Hong Kong professional divers able to share this knowledge and skills with his students to conduct safe and effective Artificial Reef surveys in limited conditions either on Open Circuit or Closed Circuit.
