PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Emergency First Response Instructor, DSAT Tec Deep Instructor, Trimix Gas Blender
Alex Warren began his career as a professional scuba diver in 2002, but found his passion for the sport at the age of ten, on the island of Crete. A group of ex-Greek Navy divers had a small-time scuba diving operation set-up to attract summertime vacationers. As it happened they were holding a session at a local swimming pool, and both Alex and his older brother eagerly signed on to give it a go. Both of them took to it naturally and it wasn’t long before they headed out for an Open Water dive.
The dive itself took place just off the coast of Crete’s main port. The depth was around 5 – 6m, and the dive site featured the wreck of a WWII German fighter plane. Needless to say the combination of abundant marine life, and an old wreck made quite an impression on a young boy. He spent the rest of his childhood, and teenage years diving in various locations, eventually attaining an official PADI Open Water certificate at the age of sixteen, in Hong Kong.
At the age of eighteen he became a Divemaster and worked in various locations around Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, and the Philippines. He continued amassing diving experience, diving in the Cayman Islands, Great Barrier Reef, and the Maldives to name but a few.
At the age of twenty he decided to get into Technical Diving, with an emphasis on wreck diving. He trained with Paul Nielsen, and various Tec Instructors at Mandarin Divers’ affiliated resort in Puerto Galera, Philippines, attaining DSAT Tec Deep, Trimix, IANTD Advanced Wreck, and IANTD Expedition Trimix certifications.
It was while attaining the IANTD Expedition Trimix certification, and aiding a World Record attempt as a support diver, that Alex Warren (along with Paul Nielsen, Neil Marnane, and others) found the Japanese Destroyer ‘Kuwa’ in Ormoc Bay.
Since that time Alex Warren has become a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, a Trimix Gas Blender, and is close to attaining his IDC Staff Instructor qualification.
